The Pontunes are a rock and roll band that has been playing a musical stew of vocal harmony infused rock & pop, old school R&B, soul, and jazz throughout the Pacific Northwest for decades. The band originated as a group of hometown friends in Issaquah, Washington (memorialized in member Phil Paige’s song Issaquah Boys), listening to records, learning how to play in their parent’s basements and graduating to beer halls, wild parties and eventually respectable establishments and charitable events. Grounded by the AM radio pop music of the 60s and 70s, the Pontunes collected a wide range of influences, from the Beatles, Kinks, NRBQ, and Allman Brothers to Dean Martin, Duke Ellington, Glen Campbell, and Ray Charles, reflected in their own compositions and extensive catalog of good music from a variety of artists. Members Mark Swanson and Paul Tappa were trombone playing buddies throughout school who channeled their antics in an orchestral setting into a rock band and added bass (Mark) and keyboard (Paul). In college they conspired with other musicians in Bellingham, Washington to start a horn-driven performing funk band called Chain Reaction. Meanwhile, friends Phil Paige, Mark Monrean and Scott Fischer were ripping it up on their mini-bikes, guitars and drums in Issaquah and formed the rock band Suggestion, playing tasty hits of the day but never afraid to take it sideways and play it their way. They wrote songs. The fusion of pieces of Chain Reaction and Suggestion became Jack, then the Pontunes, playing a variety of styles in addition to the band’s original songs. Doug Cruickshank eventually joined the band, making an immediate impact with his tasteful lead guitar lines and soaring solos. Eric Swanson came out from behind the soundboard in recent years and now spices the band’s sound with vocal harmony and congas. Phil, now back in Washington after living in California for many years, developed a polished solo act and a stack of original compositions. Scott lives in Thailand now but joins the band on vocals and drum kit during his triumphant annual returns.
The Whateverly Brothers grew out of two friends enjoying playing music together. Starting as a maritime music group, they soon followed their wide interests and backgrounds into many styles and genres including full Celtic and Yule sets. Dan Roberts and Chris Glanister, both seasoned folk music collectors, performers, and multi-instrumentalists, have delighted audiences with their varying repertoire, shimmering harmonies, striking arrangements, and offbeat humor. A power group, tight and expressive, they are best described as "more fun than kids in a mud puddle”
Eric Auckerman and Rich Fassler are two Bainbridge Island based singer/songwriters who wanted to explore that third voice when two people sing harmony. As founding members of The Harmony Wombats, they cover a broad range of artists including The Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, CSN, The Byrds, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, CCR, The Lumineers, and others. If there's a harmony to be found, Eric and Rich put their vocal spin on it. They'll also share some of their original compositions, reflecting on everyday life, love, and the Pacific Northwest.
"Entre Amigos" (among friends), is a group of musicians dedicated to bringing the music of Brazil to audiences in the Pacific Northwest. Samba, Choro, Bossa and Brazilian style jazz are the main ingredients, but more obscure styles, such as Forro, crop up in their sets, as well. Not just a copycat band, Entre Amigos brings some decidedly modern North American sensibilities to this music.
The group is made up of Alan Simcoe (guitar), Cynthia Shick (accordion), Adam Pelandini, (soprano & alto saxophones), and Neil Conaty (dbl bass). Each provides a different strength and focus to the music. Yet, each player contributes to a common sound whose character is very much "Among Friends".

Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” evoke the spirit of a Paris cafe and the raucous energy of a Romani campsite with their version of Hot Club Swing. “At the heart of their sound is Ranger Sciacca's sweet violin playing… his sense of melody and daring improvisations” (World Rhythm). The band’s repertoire includes swing standards, traditional European melodies, the music of Django Reinhardt, and Ranger's unique originals.
Ranger and his father Michael formed the band in 2006, after a pilgrimage to the world’s foremost Hot Club Swing event, the Django Reinhardt festival in Samois Sur Seine, France. The band has now released 4 CDs and performs over 100 times each year at music festivals, concerts in the park, swing dances, weddings and events of all sorts.
Past Shows have included: Edmonds Concert in the Park, Seattle Art Museum, Djangofest Northwest, Best of the Northwest Arts Festival, Highline Classic Jazz Festival, Ethnic Fest Tacoma, and Vin du Lac Winery (Chelan)
